Everything to know about making a Dear Future postcard.

How much does a postcard cost?

Each postcard is $7. Printing and postage are included, so there is nothing to add at checkout.

How does Dear Future work?

You upload your photographs, write your message and preview the postcard. Then you enter the recipient’s name and mailing address, choose the date it should be mailed, and check out.

Who can I send a postcard to?

Anyone with a mailing address: a loved one, a child, or yourself. Many people write to their future selves.

Can I choose when it is mailed?

Yes. You choose the mailing date when you make the postcard. It can be any day from tomorrow up to 25 years ahead.

How does a postcard mailed years from now work?

You write the postcard and pay for it today. It is saved in your account as scheduled, with the mailing date you chose, until that date comes. Postage is included in the $7, so there is nothing more to pay when it is mailed.

Can I change the mailing date after I order?

Yes. Sign in, open My Future Vault and change the date on a scheduled postcard. This works until about 5 days before the mailing date, when the postcard goes to the printer. After that it can no longer be changed.

Will it arrive on the exact day?

The mailing date is the day your postcard is scheduled to be mailed. Once it is in the post, delivery dates can vary, so choose a date with a little room. Your vault shows a postcard as printed or mailed only once that has been confirmed.

What if the recipient moves before the date?

Your postcard is sent to the address saved on it. If someone moves, sign in, open My Future Vault and choose Change address on the scheduled postcard. This works until about 5 days before the mailing date, when the postcard goes to the printer and the address can no longer be changed. It is worth checking the address before then.

Can I add more than one photograph?

Yes, you can add up to four photographs to the front of a single postcard.

Do I need an account?

You sign in with your email so your photographs and messages stay private to you while you make your postcard.

Can I send a postcard to more than one person?

Each postcard goes to one address. Make one postcard for each person you want to write to. A Family Time Capsule membership lets you save several recipients so their addresses are quick to reuse.

Do I need a membership?

No. Every postcard can be bought on its own for $7. A membership is optional: it adds monthly postcard credits, a private memory vault and reminders for birthdays, anniversaries and family milestones.

How do memberships renew and cancel?

A membership renews automatically each month or each year, at the price shown at checkout, until you cancel. You can cancel from your membership page, and it then runs to the end of the period you have paid for.
